I’m a licensed therapist in Washington DC and work with individuals, couples and families navigating interpersonal issues, difficult life circumstances and transitions.
During my undergrad years at Florida State, I worked as a Resident Assistant and met students who endured very difficult challenges. That work led me to a psychology program focused on trauma and resiliency at Harvard where I was able to study with Annie Rogers and Bessel van der Kolk. I was drawn to my work by questions: How can we help people tap into their internal resilience to heal from harmful experiences, interpersonally and in our communities? How can we be fully vulnerable with other people and experience true intimacy in our relationships? How do we create space for ourselves in this world? How can we examine our stories and change internal narratives that may limit us?
For 25 years, my career has focused on helping people heal from harm to grow more deeply connected relationships and meaningful lives. I have been on executive teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings and have been lucky enough to develop extensive programming focused on trauma, addiction and eating disorder recovery with a multicultural and inclusive focus. After several years as president of Tenley Recovery, I started my own practice with the goal of creating a space for people of diverse backgrounds and lifestyles to safely lean into their emotional work. My practice relies upon collaboration with clients to design a treatment approach that builds on their strengths and can include a number of clinical modalities, including mindfulness, CBT, DBT and EMDR.
When I’m not in the office, I’m adventuring with my teens, exploring the DC arts scene and spending time on my yoga mat.
